LOCAL DANCES
Sir, —I wholeheartedly endorse letters of "Not Scotch" and "Not Selfish" regarding the, way dances are controlled by M.C.'s. D have attended dances for many years and enjoy them if properly controlled. A very serious habit I have noticed is couples dancing .with a lighted cigarette in the hand and I know of a case where a lady had her £8 8s evening dress ruined with a cigarette burn through it. Also of another case of a dancer having one of his eyes badly burnt. Lt is surely the duty of the M.G. to put a stop to this dangerous practice and ask the offenders to sit down. Ii myself have had. to dodge a lighted cigarette more than once while, dancing. I find sufficient time between dances for a smoke. Trusting that the above facts will give the guilty offenders the desired effect. Yours etc., "LITTLE SCOTCH."
