NEARING THE HUNDRED
TO-DAY'S acknowledgments to the Rowing Club's Shed Renovation Fund show the total to be only five shillings short of one hundred pounds. The campaign for funds for this splendid purpose was probably one of the most spontaneous in the history of the town and it is now possible to say defintely, that not only will the shed be put into propel* condition and made weather proof, but that the £40 debt outstanding on the best of the skiffs will be paid off. There will also be a surplus which will be held on the Club's behalf until such time as it is reformed or utilised still further in the interests of preserving the Club's property. Whakatane citizens, can congratulate: themselves on having completed a job which was normally theirs in trust to do.
