OBITUARY
YOUNG SOLDIER'S END PTE COLIN SLGANE McINTYRE ■ In the accidental death of Pte Colin Sloane Mclntyr© of Awake.ri, at Fox ton recently, a promising young life was cut short, in tragic circumstances. Born at. Rauinati less than twenty years ago, he received his early education at. the Raumati Primary School and subsequently attended the Dannevirke High School. Coming north his family took up farming at Awakeri, and abtmt a year ago Pte Mclntyre always keen on military life joined the Army. In the course of his; training he* became a popular member of his unit and Avon many friends. The tank accident in which he was involved occurred on February 25 and. is the subject of a special enquiry now being conducted. The deceased was accorded a full military funeral and was laid to rest in the. Mangatera Cemetery, attended by a long cortege comprising his former comrades and firing party. The 'Last Post' was sounded by Bugler-Sgt. Fleetwood. Pte Mel ntyre was the youngest son of Air J. and the late Mrs Mc--111 tyre and "the deepest sympathy will be extended to his family.
