WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT EDGECUMBE The February meeting of Edgeeumbe Women's Institute was held in 111 e hall on Tuesday. Mrs Hodson presided and there was a good attendance. The meeting opened, with the singing of the Ode'to Friendship and Mrs Hodson read the Aspirations. Nominations for the annual election of officers were, received anil Mrs Hodson was unanimously reelected presidents > A remit was sent to the Executive to be considered at the Council meeting: "That manufacturers be urged to make waterproof footwear for winter farm work/' 1 A wall competition was> wen by Mrs Le Lievre. The roll 'call was "'Suggestions for next year's competitions'" and was answered by all present. Mrs Hodson demonstrated tatting stitches. The competitions were won as follows: A wool-worked article, Mrs Le Lievre 1 with, a beautiful tapestry chair seat; Mrs Burgess 2 with a woollen cushion. A sponge roll, Mrs Burgess 1* Mrs List 2. Best ower, Mrs Malpas 1; Mrs List 2. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Mrs Flavel, hostess for the day. ' The meeting concluded with the National Anthem.
