DISTRICT APPEALS
SITTING OF BOARD
MANY ADJOURNMENTS GRANTED
The sitting of the Armed 1 Forces Appeal Board in Whakatane was concluded! last Thursday afternoon after an: all 1 day sitting in whijeh a further 44 district appeals were dealt with. Sine die adjournments were granted on the main, the chairman, Mr Edwin Edwards, once again indicating that the Board's function was not merely to find xnen for the Armed Forces but to also ensure that industry and production was maintained. Sine die adjournments were granted in the following cases provided reservists remained, in their present empio3 r ment and continued to serve in the Home Guard or E.P.S.: — iWservist Walter E. The folloAving were adjourned:— G. S. Carter (for further information); R. Hcaslip (Mr M. Berg), till 31/5/43; R. C. Burnett (till 31/3/43).
Reserved decisions, were given in the cases of H. W. M. Eagle, A. E. H. Leitli. (Brabant Brojs).
Reservists L. G. McKenzie (Maitland's Bakery appellants) and S. S. Pyne (Education Dept.) opposed their appeals and A r oiced their personal desire to go into camp.
In the former instance an adjournment Avas granted till 31/5/43 and in the latter decision avps re-; served.
Appeal was Avithdrawn in the cases of Wm. H. Fisher (due to serve in navy) and Iv. C. SchmPdt.
