AERODROME PROPOSAL
THE far sighted campaign commenced by the town's first Mayor, Mr G. A. Brabant, for the establishment of an aerodrome in the vicinity of Whakatane was advanced another stage last week when the County Council decided to take steps to call a joint meeting with the Borough Council and go more officially into details relative to the suggestion. This is the most promising movement to date since the question was first re introduced some five weeks a2:O and we have no hesitation in assuring the County Council of the warmest public endorsement, which will attend all. its measures towards this end. The establishment of an aerodrome is in tune with progress and the future of the town, and with something like acres of flat land surrounding the town there is surely room for the, setting apart of a few hundred, as an airport and landing field dcsistined to serve the air transport of the future.
