AGAINST HAPSBURGS The National Alliance of Czech Catholics,-at a convention held September 27 and 28, in Chicago, Illinois, discussed the Haps, burg propa- ' ganda in this country and decided * to take the following stand:—- • "It is obvious, that not. only Dr. Benes but all informed statesmen agree upon the question of post-war reconstruction of the nations: of Central Europe, and deem it necessary to create, a confederation of these nations. However, in regard to the question of a possible restoration of the Hapsburg dynasty, Ave arc in complete harmony Avith the attitude adopted by the Czechoslo- y vak National Council in America and the Czechoslovak Government in exile-—namely, that the. ties which once united the Czech people and the Hapsburgs have been severed A forever." a Commenting on this resolution MsfSr. Oldrich Zlamal, of Cleveland. Ohio, recognised leader of Czech Catholics in the United States said: - "So far as the Hapsburg problem is concernefl, it can be stated, av it lion t .further discussion. that the Czechoslovak people will not listen to them. We are through* with them once forever and avill neA'er com-' promise Av.ith them. The Catholics are the last ones avlio would Avish for their restoration. The politics of the Hapsburgs was one of the reasons Avhy the Czech people parted Avith Rome. They stood always as v a barrier between our nation and the Holy See and A\ere the A r ery source of all difference and even the cause of Czech prejudice against Catholicism." t
