Mr lan Go\v who was innocently responsible for sending the Pipe Band twice round the oval last Saturday found to his dismay that he i had set something going which was going to take a lot of stopping. The band gaily stepping out to the "Barren Rocks of Aden'' swung dangerously near the horse paddock where, several of the more high spirited began to fidget uneasily. Mr Gow registering the deepest concern paced alongside the .sweating Highlanders and furtively nudged secretary; Bill Howat, who however in- " tent on bis flawing' refused to argue.. Mustering up his best -Homo Guardsmen's voice, he then bellowed above the skirling, "Band Halt! !!" Still the band marched on even. 1 though the good steward from, the plains set the example by stopping dead in his tracks. Pipe Major Doug Paterson however came- to the rescue at this juncture and to the relief of the scarlet faced pipers and, the bynow seriously disturbed Mr Gov— gave the big drummer the nod and£ the music ceased,
