MINISTER'S VISIT

HON. D. G. SULLIVAN'S TOUR PAPER MILLS INSPECTED The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries! and Commerce, visilted Whakatane last Sunday and Monday, receiving various private delegations and spending the major part of his stay inspecting the Paper Mills at Pupuaruhe. He left yesterday afternoon for Rotorua. A full account of his visit, to* the Mills and his message to the employees will he published in Friday's issue.' Before leaving the Minister remarked to a Beacon representative: "My onily regret after visiting 1 the Paper Mills this morning was) that I did not have the opportunity of speaking to the men engaged in the plant. Under the present pressure of production it would have been most undesirable to interfere in anyway with the continuous) operas tiow of producing the card- , board. I would, however, like to express to every worker in the plant the sincere thanks of myself, the Government and the community as a whole for the work which they are doingwhich is without any doubt at all, a very direct contribution, to our war effort.''
