jVIUNITION PRODUCTION WORK

The intention of the authorities to release further men from the Army temporarily for employment in Wellington in the: assembly of motor truycks required for Army purposes and for munition production work has been announced by the Minister of Defence, Mr Jones. A call is to be made for volunteers for this work. The Minister said that full particulars of the type of tradesmen required would be published in routine orders of the various home defence units; and men wishing to offer their services would be required to offer their names and qualifications to their respective orderly rooms'. Some of the work would be suitable only for men with previous experience, but a number o.f unskilled hands would also be required. Men holding key positions in units or eligible for overseas scrviee would not. be released. It was intended tha t di s tric t manpower officers would select. fri*n volunteers. available those men who were most suitable for the various classes of work offering. Preference would be given to men of lower medical grading and to men who were able to provide their own accommodation in or near Wellington.. !
