ROWING CLUB'S SHED
ENCOURAGEMENT from the attitude of the Harbour Board with regard to the renovating of the Rowing Club's shed on the waterfront, should be drawn by all those who have interested themselves in the project. In to-dal's issue we draw attention to the advertisement convening a public meeting on Monday evening next, and would urge upon all businessmen and right-minded citizens the need to afford the movement the utmost support. The Rowing Club has sent over twenty of its members overseas. Several of them have already made the supreme sacrifice. Today the property which they set up is in serious danger of decay and collapse. Few people realise that over #300 worth of 'rowing boats lay in the building, the last pur- v : chased being a handsome skiff upon which £40 is still, owing. It is our undoubted duty to step into the breach and preserve this property for the boys who will, we Ihope; be coming home again, in the near future. By whatever means the money is to be raised we feel that once again we can : count upon the traditional liberality of the town to foot the bill to the last penny.
