PADRE'S STORY
SCARE FOR SOLDIERS
Writing from North Australia, Allan Dawes, Melbourne Herald Air correspondent, says:—
Since this little joke was told me by a padre, there 1 can surely be nothing indecorous about it. This area has so long "been an Evc.less Eden that i>artial and even complete nudity is common enough for "undress occasions.," though shirts are strictly de regale on parade.and in public. It was not remarkable, therefore, that many competitors at a recent sports meeting were caught in the altogether when a major and subaltern assisted from a staff car two- charmingly frocked and bewitching bonneted "damsels-"
There, was a blind scatter by the barefaced to the concealing waters of a pool. Whereupon Private Ron Dollar and Singaller Jack Reeves slipped ofT the slinky gowns which they had borrowed, from the props of the concert party, of which they are members, and stood revealed in the undoubtedly, masculine shirts and shorts of the N.T. force.
