IT was pleasing to note that the air port suggestion for the Whakatane of the: future was given pride of place in the list of undertakings put up by the County Council for Rehabilitation work. May the idea continue to make headway until something positive is achieved by the thinking and far-seeing element now constituted in our local, bodies and mors, responsible citizens organisations.

Bicycles Without Lights The Transport Department, proceeded against F. W. McLean and L. R. Picklcs last Tuesday for riding bicycles within the Borough of Whakatane without lights. Convictions were entered in both cases and defendants fined 5s and 12s costs.

Splendid Apple Crops The season, though not the best for atone l'ruit lias been kind to the apple crop in this district. Orchards in the Borough carry splendid crops of apples, and the same is true of the county where farmers report proliiically lad.en trees.
