WORK IN THE COUNTY *-1012 EXPENDED TO DATE In his report I'or December the County Engineer, Mr R. O. Tomkins. gave a summary of the work completed in connection with ragwort control on Crown and unindividua 1 - ised Native lands is as follows:-— . Hours Wages Acres Up to Ist. wk 4034 £539 3283 Up to 2nd, wk 1093 146 350 Up to 3rd wk 7.12 100 290 Up to I tli avlc 870 110 403 Up to. r/th wk 829 " 110 -123 Totals 7.578 1012 4/54 Some 30' men are at present employed said Mr Tomkins. At Te leko the Powell's area had been finished ;Vihl also the east bank of the Rangitaiki River south of Te Teko, A start has been made on the Brae mar and Kawerau areas. Blocks at Awakeri and Taneatua have also Jjcoh completed. A gang has also started operations on the Waimana River lied area, and men are released front this work for harvesting as rcauirtul.
