PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE

ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual Patriotic committee meeting of the Waimana Sub-zone was held in the Waimana Hall last Monday evening. There was a fair attendance of residents of the district. . Mr R.. Ward! aw occupied the chair, Mrs Wylde read the minutes of the previous annual meeting. The balance sheet and report were .adopted. It was stated that of J men had gone from Waimana and Nukuhou North to serve with the Forces. Mr Ward]aw moved a vote ot thanks to the secretary. Mrs Wylde. who had done a vast ajnount of work and was always willing to do whatever she could. The speaker also thanked all the committee for their co-operation in the past, and members of the W.I. for their wonderful support to the Patriotic committee. He announced that tlie Waimana quota was completed. Special mention was made of the wonderful efforts of two W.l. members who June been knitting for the forces from Patriotic wool: Miss E. Wardlaw who lias knitted KKS bala-' clavas. in under 7 months and Mrs McConnell Snr. who has knitted ol> pairs of socks. in '■> months. The election of the new committee "resulted:—Chairman. Mr it. Wardlaw (re-elected),: secretary. Mrs C. Wylde (re-elected): committee, ilr and M:rs INI. King, Mr and Mrs N. Clark, Messrs E. Cranswick, N. J. C. Maedonald. G. Hewitt, ,1. Mtichell, A. K. Bell, Mr and Mrs Burnett. Mrs Gallagher, Mrs McConnell, Mrs WooHield and Miss E. Wardlaw. The lady members of the committee decided to make the shortbread for the 4.G Xnuis parcels to be sent to the local men who are serving with the Armed Forces. A hearty vote of thanks passed to Ihe chair, concluded the meeting.
