AN ENJOYABLE DANCE

FUNDS FOR SOLDIFRS' PARCELS

The function arranged by the Waimana; Patriotic Committee -lo arise funds for soldiers Xmas cakes and parcels was a huge success £o.'i being taken. The evening which took place in tine local hall was spent in dancing and competitions. Mr and Mirs King supplied the dance music. Mr H. Wardlaw acted as M.C. and also gave a further donation by paying for the hire of the hall for the evening. The novelty dances Avere most popular, and the sales table did great business. The articles donated for competition Avere : Box chocolates, donated by Mrs Wylde; Groceries, donated by Mr Des Woollield; 501bs Hour, donated by Mr Ron Tipping; Cake, donated by Mrs Burnett; Marmalade, donated by Miss E. Wardlaw; Two kits, donated by Mrs Burnett; Turkey, donate'd by Mrs Tuite; Sponge cakes, donated by Mrs Gallagher and Mrs Wyldec Bread knife and board and knife box, donated by Mrs Hooper. Monetary donations were received from: Mrs Curham: Mr McConnell; Mrs F. Bell; Mrs Hewitt: Mrs Bishop Wardlaw: Mrs C. Ryan; Mr G. Stansbury; Mrs Jer ram* Mrs J. Black; Mr C. Bell; Mr R. Cain and Sons; Mr GroAcr; Miss F. Gallagher; Mrs Clark. After .supper, Mr J. L. Burnett asked L.A.C. Macdonald to* conic forward and accept a wallet and its contents from all present, with their best Avishes for his future in the R.N.Z.A.F. The guest of the eA-en-ing most suitably responded, thanking all for the gift. Mr Burnett also thanked a 111 avlio helped in any way at all to make the evening the success it Avas.
