POPULAR DANCE
EDGECUMBE AMAZON* COMPANY SUBSTANTIAL FUNDS RAISED One of llic largest dances to be held, in Edgeeumbe for quite a while was run by the members, of Hie Amazon Bat Lai ion . on Thursday night, October 1, for the purpose of raising funds to buy uniforms. The Rhythm Aces orchestra with their usual musical ability proved popular. Duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mrs P. J. Cole. Novelty dances added interest to the evening a Cinderella Monte Carlo, won by Miss Lamb and partner, being the highlight of the proceedings. Waltzing competition winners were Mr, and Mrs Cole with Mr and Mrs (). Lord a close second. Mr O'Brien and Miss: Swan won tin -1 Statue Log Cabin. Mr Tan Gow, in the absence of Mr Bunyan, gave a short address commending the work and keenness of the 'Amazons.' A dainty home-made supper was served on tables gaily decora tod with spring Jlowers. The committee join in lhan'king those who assisted in making the evening such a .success, especially the donors of cash donations.
