PADRE KEITH WATSON
LETTER* FROM ITALY
The following is an extract from a letter from Padre Watson who is a prisoner of war in Italy, His friends in Whakatane will be pleased to have news of him.
"We arc being quite well treated here. liavc a library oi' 355 books. Lectures, classes, debates, musical cveings keep us occupied. I have devotions each morning. Father Sheely is onlj- other padre he reMitchell and McDowell are in other camps somewhere. Am keeping fit • —get exercise, walking, boxing, deck tennis and gardening. Have a certain number of troops here. I look after their social and educational programme. Capts. Tolerton and ■ Galerly and Doctor Victor Martin send their regards. The climate is delightful here and country surroundings veiy peaceful and beautiful. Nearly all New Zealand officers in this place—a line spirit shown. The desert campaign was sticky while it lasted—our brigade j}ut up tine showing.' 1 '
