DOMAIN BOARD ELECTION

THE expiry of the seven year term of the Whakatane Domain Board has necessitated the need for an election 011 Monday next. It will probably be considered by most persons, that in these times of growing individual responsibility, Home Guard and E.P.S. training, business difficulties and boundless control, that service on such a body as a Domain Board is quite unnecessary. This view however is a mistaken one. It must not ever be forgotten that in spite of how real and overwhelming the war conditions are, they are only temporary and will pass away in years to come. The work of the Domain Board in maintaining the recreation areas in our town in good sound condition may therefore: be listed with the work of repatriation and other post war undertakings of major importance. Sound public spirited citizens are needed to serve gratuitously upon the board.
