LOCAL MEN HONOURED

HAPPY FAREWELL DANCE An enjoyable dance was held recently in the Waimana Hall when three men of the forces were entertained. Mr and Mrs King supplied the music and Mr M. Burke obliged with an extra. Mr T. Doran acted as M.C. and Mr Morton was door-i keeper. After supper had been served, Mr N. Macdonakl called on the men to receive a wallet and its contents from the people of the district., Mrs Wylde making the presentation. The men thus honoured were Privates G. Pheres and W. Re-id, while an apology was received from Pri-> vate M. Tipping who was unable to be present, his gift being forwarded" on to him. The guests suitably responded. The singing of Auld Lang Syne and. the National Anthem closed the evening.
