ALL NIGHT ON ROAD
MAN THROWN FROM BICYCLE
BROKEN LEG SUSTAINED
Discovered at 6 a.m;. in the morning lying in the middle of the main road near Te Teko, Patrick O'Keefe a middle aged farmer told his rescuers that he had been hit by some unknown vehicle or object about 10 p.m. the night before when he was riding home on his bicycle, and had spent since then on the roadway in a semi-conscious condi tiom An examination revealetf that the victim was suffering from a compound fracture of the right leg and was severely bruised 1 . His damaged bicycle lay beside him. He was removed to the Whakatane hospital where his condition this morning was reported to be satisfactory. Connective as to the nature of the collision has led to the possible explanation that it was caused by a stray beast or horse at large on the road way, which the cyclist either failed to see or took fright and leapt to the middle of the road on his approach.
