SERVICE WITH A SMILE
WHEN the secretary of the Counties' Association takes a leaf from the coal miners book and proceeds to dictate and to criticise the actions of an organisation which contributes to his salary the position becomes almost as farcical, as the celebrated dispute itself. Readers will note from an article in to-day's issue the astounding attitude of the 'servant' of the well known association who because a suggestion of his own for an increase in the subscription levy from the affiliated County authorities was not received by Whakatane with open arms proceeds to, castigate that body for daring to disagree. The incident is but a further illustration of how far we have drifted from a correct sense of values and decency and we can but admire the action of the council in choosing to ignore the insinuations and unfair appellations of a would-be Mussolini in the making.
