As reclamation of all wanted waste material has been done by volunteer labour .with the first, objective of supplj-ing essential raw material to local industries, work-
ing for the Dominion's war effort, and secondly by its sale to pay over the proceeds to patriotic funds, your goodwill and co-operation are desired. A prompt reply giving the information desired and indicating your willingness to set up a committee if this has not already been done, will be highly appreciated. The R.S.A., W.W.S.A., Boy Scouts, and Girl Guides have all indicated their willingness to help in any way." Commenting on the letter the local secretary, Mr G. G. Lucas, stated that he understood that the Whakatane Borough Committee intended making arrangements for the collection of waste material and asks that other committees report what action they projiose taking in this matter. Reclamation of rubber is a mafter of national importance and with regard to paper, he understood that as from the Ist April next the Whakatane Paper Mills avi 11 handle not less than ISO tons a week.
