School Committee Member Mr G. li. Dainton, 'manager of tlic local Bank of Australasia has been elected by the Whakatane School Committee to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr H. J. E. Further School Accommodation Tenders have been called by the Education Board for the construction of a further room to the Infant School, Whakatane, which is urgently needed. Golfers Farewell To-morrow On Saturday next (to-morrow) members of the Whakatane Golf Club Avill assemble on the course for the purpose of saying farewell to Mr and Mrs X Bullartl and the Misses Bullard, Avho have been popular members for some years past. The committee takes the opportunity of extending a warm invitation to members and friends of the Bullard family to attend, and if. so de,sirous of also participating in a friendly round at the same time. Vegetable Seed Not Available GroAvers of vegetable crops for Government purposes and for local sale have been seriously inconvenienced by the lack of seed supplies available, owing to the Government control which refuses to release the necessary quantities. Yesterday a well knoAvn groAver with a large area already cultivated and awaiting planting found that it Avas impossible to purchase the necessary turnip seed.. He promptly took the most effective method of Aviring the Minister of Agriculture direct.
