SPRING FLOWERS
DISPLAY AT AWAKERI
ASSISTING RED CROSS
The Awakeri Sub*centre Red Cross Daffodil Day proved quite an attraction to both local and town friends and despite the previous unusually wet* weather the daffodils and spring flowers were remarkably good. Decorated bowls drew fair competition and added effect to the display of daffodils. Winner, Miss Eivers of Auckland* Mrs N. Macdonald 2, Mrs T. Smith and Mrs Nielsen tie 3. Items by Mrs A. Smith and Mi£ N. Carter were by their reception very popular. The thanks of the committee go to those who donated raffles, results of which are as follows:—Dinner, Miss Mclntyre; Turkey, Nan Sinclair; Fowl, Mr Bathe; Sox, Mrs Eric Haultain; D'Oyley, Mrs C. Wilson; Khaki Sox, F. Appleby. Brisk business was done at the j produce and seedling stalls - which had been well stocked. Afternoon tea was very popular and concluded a successful effort. Proceeds amounting to about £30 were realised which proves that Re# Cross activity has many sympathetic supporters.
