TO-NIGHT'S PUBLIC MEETING
SPECIAL interest attaches to the meeting called jointly by His Worship the Mayor,, and the Chairman of the Town andi Country Soldiers Farewell Committee: which takes place in the Borough Chambers this evening. The business under discussion is the raising of fresh funds for the purpose of ensuring a continuance of those popular civic farewells and incidental presentations which have been made to all men leaving this district for service overseas, whenever humanly possible to do so. In the past such appeals have always been met. by a ready and generous response and we have no doubt but that a similar result will be forthcoming' in the present instance.
Appeal Board Sitting The sitting of the No. 2 Military District Appeal . Board takes place to-day and to-morrow. A report of the proceedings will appear in Friday's issue.
Bulls and' Dogs During the past month the Borough Inspector impounded two Jersey bulls both of which were unclaimed and sold, and destroyed 3 unregistered dogs collected from the Strand.
