THE RECENT COLD SNAP SNOW ON TA RAWER A The sudden change of temperature -since the recent rains lias given this district, the coldest snap experienced all the winter. On Saturday there were 9 -degrees of frost recorded in and an even heavier frost on the plains. Lamentations from home gardeners whose earlv notato crops have been laid low, were heard in general over the weekend:. Snow was visible on Mt. Tarawera throughout Friday and Saturday and the keen sou-westerly that blew steadily Jrom that direction probably Avas responsible for the heavy coats and blue noses we noted about the main street. The indications are that with the change of wind the weather Avill grow warmer though reports from inland state Lliat conditions are still unsettled.
