Walton, S.M., at the monthly sitting of the Magistrate's Court in Tauranga last week, was convicted and committed to a defaulters' detention establishment. Accused pleaded guilty to the charge. It was stated by Sergeant D. Austin that accused Avas called up on March 26. He lodged an appeal on religious grounds, and this was dismissed by the Armed Forces Appeal Board. On July 23 a notice was sent to him requiring him to parade at the Drill Hall in Tauranga on July 29 to proceed to camp, but this he failed to do. He was employed on his father's farm.
