The recemt list of High Military Award's to members of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force includes the name of Colonel Francis (Frank) Prideaux of Whakatane who hias been honoured with the Order of the British Empire. Our warmest congratulations go to Mrs Prideauix on, the distinction won by her husband of whom our town feels justly proud l .

At the meeting of suppliers to the Rangitaiki Dairy Company at Eidgeeumbe last Wednesday, the chairman, Mir W. A. McCracken, referred feelingly to the loss during the year of the late' Mr J.. W. Sumner and the Hon. J. B. Gow. Both these men he said had rendered signal services to the dairying industry and to the community as a whole. Mr Sumner, had been the first chairman of the Rangitaiki Company and the Hon. J. 8., Gow the first chairman of the Opoti!ki Company. Both would therefore be remembered by the farmers of the Eastern Bay of Plenty for the leading part they played in laying the foundations of the industry. A motion of sympathy to the relatives of both pioneers was carried, in the usual manner—all present I standing in silence. I
