INSTITUTE MEETING

The monthly meeting of the Wai-< mana-Nukuhou "Women's Institute was held in the AVaimana Hall last Wednesday afternoon when Mrs Hewitt presided over a good attendance of members. Deepest sympathy was extended to the relatives of Mrs Sims, the oldest member, who passed away recently. The Bi-annual Council meeting is to be held in Waimana on October 16 Mrs G. Mitchell and Mrs King being delegates. Mrs W. Eagle was enrolled as a new member. The appe'al put forward for the Leper Fund was Avell responded to, each member giving 1 /-. Mrs N. Clark gave a most interesting talk on the Adult Education School held at Tauranga. A humorous reading was given by Mrs F. Savage and enjoyed by all. Miss Nola Rust gave a clever exhibition of Tail dancing. , The day's competitions were: Plate of shortbread, Mrs Hewitt 1; Mrs T. Wardlaw 21, Mrs I. Savage 3. Jar| of spring bulbs, Mrs T. Wardlaw 1; Mrs Wool lie Id 2; Mrs Wylde 3. Best double (lower, M:i\s i. Savage 1; Mrs j Stevenson 2; Mrs T. Wardlaw 3. Best single llower, Mrs Stevenson 1; Mrs T. Wardlaw 2; Mrs Wylde 3. B;>st vegetable, Mrs F. Bell 1 Mrs Hewitt passed a vote of thanks to the judges and hostesses and the singing of the National Anthem closed the meeting.
