AN ANCIENT PARALLEL

PRAYERS OF MOSES

VICTORY FOR ISRAEL

An interesting parallel of the prayers for victory which were offered up by Moses according toi the story of the old Testament, and the position of the Christian world in the light of events to-day, was given by the Rev. H. Hogg at the public prayer service yesterday.

The Rev. Hogg related how, when the Israelites found the tide of battle going against them, Moses raised his arms to heaven in prayer and his people prevailed, and later when his arms were heavy Aaron and Hur sustained them until the battle was Avon.

There Mere unfortunately many people in this country to-day whose hands were heavy for lack of prayer.' On the plains of Egypt and elsewhere the battle was raging and upon us at home lay the responsibility of lifting our hands in prayer. Time and again our King had called lis back to prayer and there was not the slightest doubt but that he and the rest of our leaders realised. its importance.

During the last war Marshal Focli had spent an hour at a very critic cal time in payer at a wayside shrine. It was our bounden duty to uphold our leaders to-day in their call for urgent prayer. The responsibility on us in that respect was tremendous.
