SALE OF PETROL
HOURS DEFINED
A local garage proprietor informs the Beacon that many motorists are apparently unaware of the regulations now governing the closing hours for the retail sale of petrol. From Mondays to Fridays no jje't J rol may be so'ld after 5.30 p.m. and after 1 p.m. on Saturday. No petrol may be sold on Sundays.
Provision is made for resellers to supply petrol at any hour in case of emergency. Resellers have the right to maintain a register of emergency sales to record transactions made outside normal hours. Particulars, including the circumstances claimed to constitute the emergency, must be entered and signed by the purchaser. Both the purchaser and reseller are liable to a penalty of £50 in the event of a breach of the regulations.
