FURTHER DISTRICT OFFENDERS

A number of traffic offenders w r ere dealt with before Mr E. L. W T alton, S.M., in the AVhakatane Magistrate's Court yesterday. George Kana Kelly was lined £3 and costs 12s for driving a car in Commerce Street without due care and attention. Constable Thom said the charge arose out of an, 'accident when Kelly's car overtook and collided with a boy riding a bicycle. Tahae Haruru who was proceeded against by the Transport Department, was fined £1 and costs 25s for operating a car without lights. For riding a bicycle without the regulation lights Johnny Moeke was fined 5s and costs 17s. Norman Herbert Semmcns was fined £2 and 10s costs for driving a heavy motor truck and failing to keep to the left. " John Fisher for operating a truck and trailer at Awakeri and: exceeding the speed of 25 m.p.h. as permitted by regulation was fined £3 and costs 335.

Straying: Stock Win. Jas. Ansell was fined 10s and costs 22s for permitting a cross Jersey cow to stray unattended on the road. Joe Watarawi for a similar offence involving two cows w 7 as fined 20s and costs 30s. Te Kore Ngahen, the owner of four cows which were allowed to wonder at 'large at Te Teko was. also fined 20s and costs 37/6.
