CIVIC FAREWELL

TRIBUTE TO LOCAL MEN

CEREMONY AT BOROUGH CHAMBERS

Three local men on final leave were given the formal farewell tendered, wherever possible to those soldiers from this district, by His Worship the Mayor and representatives of other organisations', in the Borough Council Chambers last Monday evening. The presentation of the usual wallet and covers was made by Mr fßarry before a number of residents and prominent citizens. The men were Cpl T., Morgan, Ptc W. Morgan and Pte R. Quinlal Mr Barry conveyed the good wishes of the townspeople and wished the men good luck and a safe return. Other speakers were Mir K. Runeiman (President R.S.A.), Mr S. S. j Slnipley (Chairman ol' the Town and District Farewell Committee). Presentations from the Borough Ladies' Patriotic Committee and from the Farewell Ccmmitte were also made. At the Railway Station on Monday morning the Mayor and other Borough representatives made a special trip to make further presentations to Ptes O. Roulston and T. Wyatt., w ho were unable to attend the local ceremony.
