SOLDIER'S THANKS
LITTLE GIRL'S ACT
NOTE IN PYJAMA COAT
When Barabara Breckon. of Wha-
katane, aged nine years, put a note in the pocket of a suit of pyjamas whk'h her mother was making for the men overseas, she little thought that sonu eighteen months later she would receive a reply from the soldier who happened to discover it when he was in hospital.
Pte Oscar Russell, of Wairoa, Hawke's Bay, who was committed to hospital in the Middle East, suffering with a painful complaint known as sandfly fever, has written one of the most apprecat've letters it has been our pleasure to read. It was two days before he found the letter and he has written to say how pleased he was to hear from a little girl in his homeland:.
Perhaps Barbara's example could be followed by other little Whakatane girls and boys.
