TABLETS OF TEA
EMERGENCY RATION ISSUED AUSTRALIAN ARMY SUPPLIES Tablets, each of which makes a full mug of tea, may shortly be added to the Aus trail ;in Army emergency ration, supplies of which are about to be issued to units in operational areas. The ration is 'to be consumed when no other foods are available, and in emergency can sustain a soldier for two days. The ration is packed in a flat tin and consists of a fruit plug, a meat ration and milk tablets. The fruit plug consists of four ounces of dried apricots, sultanas, currants, roasted peanuts, sugar and cocoa. The meat ration is a six-ounce plug of dehydrated meat and vegetables, which may be eaten as supplied, but is better cooked. The proposed addition of tea will be in (the form of a Ingrain tablet wrapped in grease-proof paper.
