NO LIABILITY TO SERVE OUT OF NEW ZEALAND All members of the armed force became liable for service whereve required by an amendment to tli National Service Emergency Regu lations which came into force o June 23. This liability attached autc matically to Maori members of tli forces, but it has been removed b a further amendment gazetted las vveelij The Minister of National Servic< Mr Broadfoot, has stated that i view of the fact that Maoris had nc at any stage been subject to coir puksory service, and as their volur tary enlistment had been, made o the express undertaking that the would not be required to sesve be yond New Zealand', it had been .de cided that rather than re«put>re tker to exercise their right of- appes against overseas service at was pre ierable to remove the liability. Thv. right of Maori members of. the forces within New Zealand to elect to serve overseas w«* ia no xvaj affected.
