WHAKATANE GOLF CLUB RESULTS During" last week-end three cup finals ay ere decided. The games in each section were keenly contested and decisions were unsettled till the last green. In the Fortune Cup final, the decision was reached at the 19th hole 1 . The main highlights of these finals were the successes of our veteran players over their much younger opponents. On paper, these veterans did not have a hope. Their opponentSr-were all tried men with good match temperaments. But woe is the game of. golf! It causes liots of surprises! And the victories of our veterans Averc very popular with their club mates. Following arc the results: — Fortune Cup: Spencc (9) lost to Anderson (13). Founders Cup: Littlejohn (18) lost to Armstrong (18). Reynolds Gup: Symc (19) lost to Busliett (23). Bogey Handicap: Owing to the absence of the Club Captain and the non-collection of the cards handed in, the results of this competition has not been checked over. The winner will be announced next Saturday at the club house. Saturday's Draw There will be a Stableford Bogeynext Saturday. Choose own partners. Clarke Cup Semi-final: Spencc v Suckling; Henderson v Moore.

Championslhip Qualifying Rounds As there will be only about ten players in each section lor the respective championships it has been decidcd to forego the medal qualifying rounds and make up a draw by lot of all players in each section for match play. Laeli and everyone t here I ore has a chance at the respective championships. Seniors, handicap up to 12, Intermed-» iate 13 to 17, Junior 18 upwards.
