WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MATATA MEETING The monthly meeting of the Matata Women's Institute was held on Wednesday, July 22, when Mrs Magee presided over a good attendance of members and Visitors. A letter dealing with the saving of rubber and waste paper was read and then thoroughly discussed. All members resolved to assist as much as possible. Mrs H. Withy's talk on gardening was listened to with great interest. A competition of "General knowledge test" was Avon by Mrs Marr's team. Competitions for the day were: Best flower, Mrs H. Withy 1; Mrs Bagley 2; Mrs Ansell 3. Ginger sponge: Miss: Burt 1; Mirs Ansell 2; Mrs H. Withy 3. Vase of spring flowers: Miss Burt U Mrs Smith 2; Mrs! Ansell 3. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs Cummings and Mrs Wrathall.
