SUGAR RATIONING
JAM AND MARMALADE PROCEDURE OUTLINED
Provision will bo made i'or a limited simply ol' sugar to housewives who wish to make jam and marmalade at this season. The. Rationing Controller. Mr J. K. Thomas, said the August quota of sugar which would normally be available on August 1 may be purchased in whole or in part on the surrender of any coupons at any time after July !."> by people wishing to make jam or marmalade.
On using sugar muvhased on the
August coupons for this purpose, application may be made for a permit to replacv. the quantity so used. This permit will be negotiable on or after August 1, but not later than August In this way it w.ill be possible for a maximum of three pounds of sugar per person to be used in the next few weeks for making household jams. The allowance, however, will be subtracted in each case, from any general issue of sugar which might bo made in the main jam-makiing season.
