WEDDING BELLS

PATON—HEARD The Avcdding AVas solemnised yesterday in the Whakatane Methodist Church of Mary, third daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Heard of Galajtea, and Alan, son of Mr and Mrs A., Pa ton, of Clevedon, Auckland. The lie A'. G. V. Thomas officiated and the. cere mo nj 7 ' was attended by many friends of the contracting parties.

The bride avlio Avas given away by her father, made a very charming picture in a full length i'ipek of brocaded satin lashioned oil period lines and finished Avith a Hoaving train. She Avorc a full veil ijlf tulle avli ich ay as held in place Avith a coronet of orange blossom and carried a sheaf of arum liliies. Gilt .shoes completed her ensemble.

In attendance as matron of honour Avas Mrs R. Gear, sister ol the bride, ay ho; AYore a becoming frock of green taffeta and a short veil of the same tone falling from a topknot. Her bouquet - Avas. od' early daffodils'. Mr Len Creamer of Galatea, carried out the duties of best man.

The reception was held at -the Whakatanc Hotel where a la rye aumber of friends and well wishers gathered to- do honour to< the young couple. The bride's mother, Mrs G. Heard, received her guests in a neat navy blue suit and held a posy ci blue iris. The groom's sisters Mesdames Billman (Clevedom) and Condon (PuJcekolie) were also present. The Rev. Thomas made an excellent toastmaster and. all joined in wishing the newly-weds the best ol prosperity and happiness. Among those present were Miss J. Billman, Mrs C. O'Connor, Mrs [i. Loonies, Mrs \\ ard, Mis Muishall, Mrs 11. Head. Airs Neilson, Mrs Sutherland, Mrs Creamer, Mrs Alexander, Mrs Hamilton, Mis .lacksun, Mrs Tara Dyksha.

Mr and Mrs Paton who left later for their honeymoon will make their future home at G'alatea.
