TRAFFIC BREACHES
LOCAL. PROSECUTIONS MOTORISTS IN COURT The monthly sitting of the Whar katane Magistrate's Court was practically limited to motorists breaches and one or two cases of debt. Mr E. L. AV'alton, S.M.. was on the bench. George L. Washer pleaded guilty to driving a car on July 15 without befng the holder o/' a licence. He explained that he had not used the car prior to the incident whereby he was accosted and had just returned from a holiday. Convicted and ordered to pay the. costs, 12s.
Sonny Davis who did not appear was charged with driving a car without the necessary certificate of Utness. Sergeant Farrell said the vehicle wasi a ramshackle affair. Fined 10s and costs 27js. For Neil Christian Jensen Mr C. A. Suckling entered a plea of guilty to driving a car Without a C of F and also with defective lights, but said that defendant was keen to get his wife and small child home that night. He had since been adjudged a bankrupt.
Fined 10s and costs 12s on. tlie first charge and 20s and costs 12s on tiie second.
Straying Stocky The Transport Department prosecuted Romana Kingi for allowing four cows to be at large in the neighbourhood of Piripai. Defendant stated that his gateway was used by two familiesi and was left open alter lie had closed it. Fined 20s and costs 17s. Tcwha Falwasser Avas prosecuted by the County Council, whose' inspector A. Calling stated that defendant owned a quarter-draft entire which had been permitted to wander at Matata or. May 25. Fined £2 and costs 17si, plus solicitor's fee of 20s. Unlighted Bicycle M. J. O'Flalierty was ordered to pay costs l'Js and solicitor's fee 12s Gd for riding a bicycle without the requisite light at Edgecumbc on the niglit of May 27.
