tional inmates; Relief of cripples and other afflicted human beings; Health and well-lieing of Maori people; Employment of qualified nurses for service in matters affecting the health and well-being of the community; Junior Red Cross. A, set of rules has been drawn up for the guidance of all interested in the St. John Ambulance Association, these having been dratted from a set of the Auckland Centre. A copy of the balance sheet is now open for perusal and still shows a credit balance and I. think you will agree with me that our posn tion is very satisfactory.

As chairman of the St. John Ambulance Association I want personally to thank all those who have assisted us during the year especially Dr Appleby., Dr. Dawson, Dr. Cole, Dr. Maaka, Mrs Cowie, Messrs B. Bishop, A. Carting, H. L. Drube, F. ,T. Ramson. Matron Gribben, Nurse McKay and (rill also Miss Tait. Without their assistance it would have been impossible to give the good service to the aspirants ior the knowledge of First Aid to the injured. From this report you will readily see that a lot of work has been thrown on to our able secretary, Mr H. Cnrr, who has made all the arrangements' for the various classes in the way of lectures, examiners, books, etc. We arc very fortunate in having a secretary like .Mr Carr who lias put in a lot of work and time in carrying out these duties which have increased tremendously during the. hist two years. We are at a stage now when it Is. unfair to ask him to carry on without remuneration and I will suggest that he be paid £10 for his past services and that in future he be paid £10 annually.
