The story is told of how a man who had taken his family for a flrive, ran out of petrol about two miles from home. Having a friend living nearby, he obtained from him sufficient petrol in a bottle to enable him to reach home.

He put the bottle in his hip pocket and hurried back to the car, but disaster overtook him on the way, a cyclist knocking him over. On getting to his feet, lie felt something wet running down one leg. Gingerly feeling it, he exclaimed fervently, "I hope It is only blood.'"
