REGENT
GEORGE FORMUY'S FUNNIEST
At the opening season for George Formby's latest production "Call a Cop" at the Regent Theatre on Saturday evening our local picture fans were highly delighted with the programme and this most timely tonic of riotous mirth, music and song is certainly the funniest of all Formby's photoplays. The official one is Dorothy Hyson and the other Jack I Mel ford. Dressed as a woman, with a long black wig and flowing clothes, Jack tawes the part of an entertainer at a police concert attended by George, who as a Police War Reserve constable is also on the programme. George has some embarrassing moments before discovering that the "lady" is really a man— and some more embararssing moments when a little later, he mistakes a real woman for the impersonator. Poor George, he is always getting into trouble and before he extricates himself from his troubles in this merry mirthquake, you'll have lots of laughs. Take a tip, "Call a Cop," just for fun.
