THRILLING ACTION WESTERN AT THE GRAND Gene Au try, Republic's singing star of the saddle lias risen to the top of the popularity poll by sheer force of his pleasant friendly screen personality and the charm which he projects on the screen has created an audience which always awaits his next picture with eagerness. His latest musical western "Gaucho Serenade" comes to the Grand Theatre on Friday and Saturda3 r . Autry was born on a ranch in Tioga, Texas, which has since been re-named "Autry Springs" in honour of it§/ most distinguished son. He rode-tne range throughout his childhood, and on Sundays sang in the choir of his father's church. This early choir singing, plus some travelling medicine show experience he gained while ( in his teens, started him on the singing cowboy path. A special matinee will be held this afternoon of "Gaucho Serenade" at the Regent at 3.15.
