REGENT

FORMBY FARCE OF THE FORCE

George Formby's second successive topical comedy, "Call a Cop" comes to the Regent Theatre on Saturday and George frankly admits that he had a champion time making, it. Reason being that the same George is rare daft on motoring and motor cycling and as the many speed seT quences of the film provided ample opportunity lor both, he had lots of fun. George as a War Reserve policeman with ambitions to get into the Flying Squad, has to undergo, a stern trial before his promotion, with his nearest rival stooping to the dirtiest tricks to thwart him. These highgeared action sequences are as thrilling as they are funny, with George as ever, performing the impossUjle in the way of risking his neck on bucking motor bikes, a Wall of Death, a trampolene net on music hall stage and a miniature motor car Avhich darts between the heels of horses and lorries and uses the gutters of adjoining roof tops for tram lines.
