SCOTTISH TROOP
BOY SCOUT ENTHUSIASM
Under the enthusiastic leadership of Mr C. F. Thomas the movement, which commenced a fortnight ago to form a Scottish Scout troop in Whakatane, has now become an actual fact. The Scout Committee- decided recently to sponsor the suggestion proA-iding the existing troop was. not weakened by any withdrawals in favour of the new unit. There -frill be however no fear of this occurring as already there are 17 new members willing to join up either Avith one troop or the other and active steps are now being taken to bring the new unit into actual being. To this end the support of the Caledonian Society is sought and the whole idea will be reviewed and properly constituted at the annual meeting of the Scout Citizens Committee which, occurs early next month. In the meantime enquiries arc being made as to suitable material for kilts and other equipment which Avill be needed to outfit the troop.
