W.W.S.A.

TRANSPORT EXAMINATIONS

LOCAL GIRLS' SUCCESS

The following is an extract from a letter from the Institution of Automobile Engineers, Australia, with reference to the W.W.S.A. Transport classes. "The examiners who have been marking papers covering transport examinations have passed some verv complimentary remarks on the high standard attained by the girls. We feel these examinations reflect a great deal of credit on the organisation of the W.W.S.A. and the results achieved merit some publicity. The examination itself is by no means an easj r one, and proficiency to this standard is a commendable effort. To pass this examination requires no little practical knowledge and it can be taken . . . that your successful girls are vei\y well qua]iHed by practical instruction to drive vehicles with safety and skill. I would also draw your attention to the percentage of passes secured in this examination. This examination was not any easier than previous ones set, for which an average of .70 per cent of candidates passed. However in this examination it would seem that more than 85 per cent of candidates avi 11 pass. This is an outstanding performance, and is worthy of some public recognition." j It is a matter of some satisfac-* I tion to the Transport Platoon of the Whakatane W.W.S.A. that in both of thg examinations set by the Automotive Engineers their girls have had 100 per cent passes. Which reflects credit not only on the girls themselves, but very largely on their instructor Mr A. O'Rourke, and his "Chief of Staff," Mr Johnr son.
