RECORD YIELD
BIG MANGOLD CROP 110 TONS PER ACRE AVERAGE With an average yield of 110: tons of mangolds an acre,, a Tikorangi schoolgirl, Evelyn Moreman, has achieved what is probably a record for boys and girls' plot competitions in North Taranaki, if not in New Zealand, states a New Plymouth correspondent. She grew two varieties in her plot, Long Red producing at the rate of 112 tons an acre, and Yellow Globe 10$ tons. The result was all the more commendable because the season was one in which crops in general were much lighter than in average years. A crop averaging 60 tons to the acre is normally looked upon as good.
